I have been ‘playing’ with a wireless network at home.
I have 2 wire network adapters (1 internal card and 1 USB wireless ‘dongle’) both configured to connect to the wireless router.
Just to test I used another router, of the type we use in our commercial activities.
What a difference!
The ‘home’ router I had purchased, which advertises itself as having great signal strength, could hardly make a connection when sited just 6 feet from the PC.
The other router managed near 100% connection when switched on as far from the PC as I could get (at the far end of the garden on an extension lead! – Yes I AM that sad )

My cars’ gone in for a service.
It feels like somebody has amputated my legs!
And is about to shoot large holes in the wallet.

Had to bury myself in a complicated project for a client this week – I’m actually enjoying it!
All too often do I deal in the regular toil of fixing the world (the Microsoft world that is ), it’s great to thrust myself into something complicated!

I am truly a sad, sad techie

There is no hope for me…

#RANT#
Ok – so you order some flat pack furniture – easy right!
Well the ORDERING was easy – as was the payment
The Delivery however was not…
Under the ‘Other details’ section, I entered “call 1 hour before delivery”
Obviously too ambiguous – a call on the morning of delivery from my home
“We are already here, shall we leave it outside?”
Grrr….

Sometimes, it’s just too difficult…

Looks like the police are finally cracking down on broadband thieves – personally I don’t believe that this would have ANY effect on the service but does open a potentially serious issue over security.
If the people were only using the broadband, then i cannot see the issue.
Also, if people are too stoopid to enter a password for their broadband, they might as well leave the front door open too

I started a ‘heated debate’ at the networking meeting the other day too!
The powers that be have decided that they need more members. The route to this nirvana was via the existing members.
Ok with this so far…
What really made me angry was when this ‘request’ for guests became a demand.
There is another breakfast network (quite well known) who dictate, in no uncertain terms, that you WILL provide leads and guests. This, as you can imagine, has a huge effect on the quality of those leads/guests. We have been given ‘leads’ to contacts who have left the companies years ago.
This is the sole reason that we are not a member of those other networks.
So when our network started making me feel like a scolded child for suggesting that the ‘demand’ was perhaps not the way to do this, you can see how angry I was
Time to rethink our membership??
