The AA

I was visited by the AA today – the automotive version (I only go on a Thursday t’ the other ;) )
ONLY JOKING!
I had left the old car’s lights on.
You can attribute this to a combination of:

  • A rain storm this morning
  • This morning (I don’t do morning!)
  • A virulent toxic plague (yes I’m getting man flu)

Note the ‘getting’
Usually I have the immune system of a tank, but sometimes something is so strong I have to succumb.
Looks like I’m in for a rough few days…

More piccies were added to the ‘Just call’ range today – somebody had the cheek to cal them ‘cheesy’
Huh! :???:

Ho hum…

This made me laugh…

Alarm sounded on second-hand kit

Oh dear – what a shower of fools.
How many times does this kind of thing have to happen before people take computer security seriously?
Would anyone sell something on eBay, and include the keys to their house?
That’s about what happened here.

Client splashes out on a new laptop – dazzled by the ‘special offer’ methinks
Client spends AGES setting it up and moving data across from the old laptop
Client has a couple of issues on the network
Simon comes along and tells the client they have the wrong version of Windows installed..!
Not a happy client  – lets hope the upgrade works as published (not holding out any hope though :???: )

New images

How do you like the new images?
Hopefully they convey the feeling of what we can do for businesses – well that’s what they are supposed to do!

 Tip:   Press F5 or click Refresh to get a new image, click them to see a larger version

O2 had to tweak the SNR margin on the broadband today – that is to say they had to increase the noise filtering on the line, the result of which is we have a slightly slower connection :(
But it does mean that it’s not dropping every 5-10 minutes :)
Now I just have to get them to fix it so I can have the fast speed AND a reliable connection… :???:

T’was a good week this week too – somehow we managed to hit our weekly target  JUST!
we are seeing more and more businesses hoarding their cash, I guess it’s the constant bombardment of doom ‘n’ gloom we are seeing from the financial sectors.
Time to pray for some sanity to kick in SOON! (before the economy collapses altogether!)

Here’s hoping…

O2

#RANT#

It’s been a while since I ranted ’bout something – Today sees that halcyon time coming to an end…

In this times frame is the telecoms giant O2, from whom we purchased their new ‘Business’ broadband. I have the ‘ ‘ round business because it is far from a business service.
I have been working with differing sizes of businesses for around 15 years in the I.T. industry. In that time I’d like to think I have a good handle on what the technology needs of businesses are.
The service that O2 provide is some kind of halfway house between a home and a business service. It’s far far too restrictive and they don’t provide enough configuration information.
To configure the external and remote communications services my business relies on, took me (a techie of no small experience) about 5 HOURS to get working.
I’ll continue to pray for the companies out there without a ‘little man’ to fix stuff!

I finally got home to an irate GF at about 20:15 tonight – I had to cook the evening meal as an olive branch…

I also left a cheque at a clients – I’m sooooo stooopid sometimes.

Alcohol, book, bed. In that order… :D

Back from beyond

I’m back

My holiday was quite good – something i’m a little surprised at!
We decided to have a week on t’ canals, so we hired a boat, and realised we’d chosen possibly the most ‘locked’ canal in the UK…
We headed off from Hebden Bridge, visited the ‘Summit’ of the Rochdale canal, then popped down t Sowerby Bridge to enjoy the ‘Deepest lock in the UK

Entering Tuel Lane Lock

Entering Tuel Lane Lock

At 6 Metres its a little daunting, fortunately there’s a friendly guy there (Rob) to do the hard work for you :)

Most of the other locks my GF decided to tackle – mainly ‘cos she hated steering and my wrist…
Sometimes the emancipation of the fairer sex is a good thing ;)

Work is it’s usual self – people keep breaking this ‘n’ that.

We had a meeting with one of our developers which lasted for ever! Jaimie I’m sure had fun..!
We have several web project happening – so much to discuss; Along with the amassing problems companies are having with the economic climate and general chit chat, of course. Its god to chat to other business owners, it gets lonely out there sometimes.
Businesses seem to be battening down the hatches and holding on to their cash a bit more; Spending on perceived  necessities only.
It’s a hard, sad time for business

Also had an issue with the email too – for some reason it decided to not bother to receive.
Oh dear. :?:
