I like when clients seem to get the idea.
This morning Tor had a meeting with networking guy, who was asking for some feedback.
All went well and turned to what we do – a lengthy conversation ensued…
During the conversation, his website popped up as a topic and so we launched some potential ideas as to things he might find interesting (things like automated delegate lists, email reminders and confirmations, auto generated badges etc.)
There was one of those “eureka” moments as he started to realise the potential of the web to automate most of his business, freeing him up to develop the business itself

Sinusoidal because today was full of ups and downs.

Popped over to see someone we haven’t seen for YEARS – he’s got a good database project for us. :)
During the end of the meeting he asked if I knew anything about Teleconferencing – Yup (I used to install the Tandberg units) so I got to play with a Polycom one :)
Found out it wasn’t correctly connected to the ISDN – and found out several other engineers had missed it (including BT!)
On to a winner so far…

Steps out of the meeting feeling good – totally flat tyre – puncture
Luckily I carry a pump – few minutes later I’m going to the garage – new tyre (more expense)
Notices the time – too late for any food, got to go to my next appointment…
Feeling sad…

Gets to my next appointment – need to fix a failing web cam – fails to fix it
Gets home feeling pretty unhappy, have to go food shopping. This has the mind numbing effect of making me forget my woes and acts almost like therapy

It started good – fell flat in the middle but I’m feeling neutral now it’s bedtime :neutral:

Hoping for a better day tomorrow…

Further to my ranting yesterday – Gregs are sending me some vouchers, as an apology
Thorntons have gone quiet…
I also got my Amazon order today – a day earlier than that expected

Would you call it coincidence, fate or kismet?
A potential new client asks us for an unusual service – We then (out of the blue) discover a new contact who does EXACTLY what the client needs..!
It’ll just need some clever project  management and some work to marry the two up and we have a winner

All in all a good day methinks…

Interesting fr both good and bad reasons…

Firstly I MUST have a rant!!!!!
Rant #1
We (my GF and I) went to the White Rose Centre  on Sunday – Primarily to return some clothes that didn’t fit – and thought we’d have a wander whilst there…
Wanders round the store, arrives at the Thorntons shop… Mmmm chocolates methinks, time for a treat for us? :mrgreen:
Enters an empty shop, 3 members of staff on hand, peruse the shelves, can’t locate personal favourites – aims for the counter…
Manageress doing something with the till – LEAVES THE CASH DRAWER OPEN WITH ALL THE CASH ON THE TOP!
Asks one day, dreaming, girl to ‘watch that a minute’ – goes into back room.
Bear in mind I’m stood at the counter – All 6′ 0″ of me – looming…
No response yet…
“Helloo?”, aimed at the manageress, now visible again…
Still nothing…
Waiting…
Still waiting…
Walks out of shop… Staff obviously far to busy to serve customers…
Pops into Greg’s on the way out – same thing happens!
The Manager had to shout to one of the staff “Could you serve this gentleman please!”

Rant #2
Tax return time again, guess what – the ‘Governement Gateway’ seems to have decided that we are not allowed to log in with our current credentials.
8 phone calls later – I had to I.D. myself EVERY time to ‘authorize’ Tor to act on my behalf – they cannot fix it and so delete our account with the intention we can recreate it.
I hope Tor’s managed to create a new log in – now all we have to do is wait the 3-7 days until the details turn up in the post.
I now know my UTC (a 10 digit number), my National Insurance number, my D.O.B., full address and full name is all that is required to be me! 

Grrrr……
Both Thrntons and Gregs got complaint messages sent today – let’s see where we go… 

On the plus side, someone we’ve known for ever but not seen for ages called us with an interesting project.
